Maxi Owners’ Autumn Meet – Sat, Sun14th, 15th October – Cowes, Shepards Wharf
There is often a good spell of weather in October!
We have prepared two extras for this event which I hope will be of interest:
We will be dining at UKSA, a new location for many?
Also rather specially, Gary Heward has offered to speak on his ways of winning with a Maxi. He will be supported by pictures.
Please book by email to me, Peter Stonestreet, peter@stonestreet.me.uk by 5th October. Include boat name and crew list with guests.
The Saturday programme will be:
1800: Pontoon Party, sponsored, Maxi Owners Association, (at Sugar Store band stand, inside if wet weather), kindly loaned by Shepards Wharf.
1845: Prepare to walk to UKSA, 12 minutes, or take water taxi. Meet at UKSA bar.
1930: start dinner
o/c : prepare for speaker in UKSA mess hall; Gary Heward ‘The Triangle Race’.
2145: depart UKSA

Cowes Rally 17th-18th October
H.W. Portsmouth 1442
The final rally of the season will take place 17th / 18th October : if you have not been able to join in so far here is your last chance this year.
10 berths have been reserved at Shepards Wharf in Cowes and we hope to have the new Maxi 1200 from Regatta Yachts joining us and available to view.
We will have the customary pontoon party at around 1800 hrs on Saturday followed by dinner at the Island Sailing Club. (menu to be confirmed)
If you plan to join us please e-mail p.sands@ntlworld.com by October 12th. to reserve your berth with details of your yacht and the number expected for dinner.
YARMOUTH RALLY 12& 13TH SEPTEMBER
You may have read the report on the Midsummer Bembridge Rally when we mustered 9 boats and 18 people and had a very convivial time. We hope that now most of us have done our annual summer cruise, a similar number or more will support the rally to Yarmouth. Below are the details, but as always please book sooner rather than later to guarantee your pontoon space.
The next Maxi Owners Association rally at Yarmouth is being organised by Julian and Carolyn Trimming. Walk ashore berths have been booked for 10 boats and the plan is for a pontoon party followed by dinner at the Royal Solent Yacht Club. Please make sure that you put the date in your diary and send a mail to Julian on jtrimming@hotmail.com if you would like to reserve your place -3 boats have booked already! H.W.Portmouth is 11.50 BST ; perfect for all of the Maxi’s to the East and also manageable for the Poole boats through Hurst. Further details will be sent out nearer the date.
