… for the Max from your sailing!

Rally Programme

Cowes Rally 17th-18th October

H.W. Portsmouth 1442

The final rally of the season will take place 17th / 18th October : if you have not been able to join in so far here is your last chance this year.

10 berths have been reserved at Shepards Wharf in Cowes and we hope to have the  new Maxi 1200 from Regatta Yachts joining us and available to  view.

We will have the customary pontoon party at around 1800 hrs on Saturday followed by dinner at the Island Sailing Club. (menu to be confirmed)

If you plan to join us please e-mail p.sands@ntlworld.com by October 12th. to reserve your berth with details of your yacht and the number expected for dinner.

You may have read the report on the Midsummer Bembridge Rally when we mustered 9 boats and 18 people and had a very convivial time. We hope that now most of us have done our annual summer cruise, a similar number or more will support the rally to Yarmouth. Below are the details, but as always please book sooner rather than later to guarantee your pontoon space.

The next Maxi Owners Association rally at Yarmouth is being  organised by Julian and Carolyn Trimming.   Walk ashore berths have been booked for 10 boats and the plan is for a pontoon party followed by dinner at the Royal Solent Yacht Club. Please make sure that you put the date in your diary and send a mail to Julian on jtrimming@hotmail.com if you would like to reserve your place -3 boats have booked already!   H.W.Portmouth  is 11.50 BST ; perfect for all of the Maxi’s to the East and also manageable for the Poole boats through Hurst. Further details will be sent out nearer the date.

HIGH WATERS 1035 & 11.23 4.6m
This is a new venue for the MOA and detailed information about this small and friendly
establishment and the facilities can be found on their website.
Access to the marina is by an automatic sill which opens and closes approx 3 hours either side of H.W.
Details of both access and approach to the marina and the facilities are given on the website. Further
local pilotage tips will be sent nearer the date to rally participants.
The marina has a well regarded Indian restaurant Bombay Bay with a terrace for fine weather dining
where it is suggested we eat in the evening after the pontoon party There is also a bar/restaurant on
the ground floor providing a more traditional menu including the full breakfast if you like that but can’t
stand the smell on the boat!
Southsea is a very popular marina and due to its size, spaces may be limited so early booking is
recommended. If you would like to come please e mail the organiser Graham Bremer who will send
you an entry form He is also happy to answer any questions you may have.
