Our 2009 AGM was once again held at the Queen Inn at Dummer, and we were pleased to see a good turnout. We were very pleased to have four new volunteers to step forward to help with Membership, Secretarial and Newsletter Editor duties.
Solent area have once again organised a comprehensive Rally Programme, which might possibly be extended to include a cruise to the Channel Isles. Another printed newsletter is in preparation, so don’t forget we are already looking for new articles and adverts for the next one! Further details of the AGM (and a full report in due course) can be found in the Members Area.

Our 2008 AGM was another success, although the numbers who could actually make it to the Queen Inn at Dummer were less than last year. Our Association is still growing but we really do need more volunteers to help us.
The Rally season has now started, and we had another very successful Nimbus Power/Maxi Sail joint event in Bembridge. It was somewhat ironic that the date of this event was the same date when Maxi Yachts was formally sold by the Nimbus Group to Najad, forming a new Group to be known as Linnea.
We are pleased to be able to report that SD Marine will continue their long association with Maxi Yachts. At present, details are fairly sketchy but SD Marine say
“Further to the announcement that Najad have acquired Maxi Yachts AB, and a new company has been formed Linnea Yacht Group bringing together Najad Yachts, Maxi Yachts and Aphrodite giving a broad range of models available. We at S. D. Marine Ltd will continue to be the Maxi Yachts contact in the UK, business as usual.”

Maxi Lymington Rally – September 17th
Following on from the excellent turnout from previous years, we have reserved 12 places on the Dan Bran pontoon for the rally. For those of you who have not been before, this pontoon is in the river outside of the Lyminton yacht haven but is connected to the shore by the sailing clubs.
The plan is to have drinks and nibbles on the pontoon at 18.30 followed by dinner at the Mayflower at 20.00.
For those who may want to arrive earlier, the pontoon is available on the Friday evening also but you will need to call in advance to reserve on 01590 672014 (say you are with the Maxi rally)

What of the rest of the season?
Over the past few years we have enjoyed 5 events spread over the season between April and October and we hope to have a similar program in place for 2011.
The Bembridge rally on 7th May & Lymington rally on 17th September are already in place, thanks to Peter & Sue and Julian & Carolyn so to keep in line with previous years that leaves 3 more events to organise.
If you have always yearned to organise a rally but never had the opportunity, this is your chance or indeed, if you have been good enough to organise rallies in previous years and are happy to again I will be pleased to hear from you.
The dates and the destination are the choice of the rally organiser so the possibilities are endless.
I hope you can join us for the Wheels Rally and look forward to your suggestions for the rally program.

This rally is being hosted by Peter & Sarah Sands and is the final opportunity this season to compare notes and swap stories of the seasons escapadesThe Folly Pontoon has been reserved for an early afternoon arrival. The evening will start with pre dinner drinks and nibbles on the pontoon followed by dinner in the Folly Inn at 8pm.There will be the opportunity to indulge in the local culture of “table dancing” later in the evening for those brave enough.To retain the use of the walk ashore pontoon we need to confirm numbers of boats and diners by Monday the 11th so your early response is appreciated to allow final preparations to be made.The rally is just over 2 weeks away.
